Just a few hours ago the California Supreme Court ruled to uphold the voter initiative to amend the California Constitution to bar same-sex marriage under Prop. 8. Now gay-right supporters are planning a huge fight to get an proposition on the next ballot to overturn this decision.

I am glad for the decision be that homosexuality is a sin and a society cannot expect to thrive if it openly accepts sinful lifestyles of any kind. However on a legal standpoint I'm thrilled that our state Supreme Court justices had the courage to stand up for what is right. What I mean is that they did not over turn what the voters wanted, they recognized the power of a voter initiative to amend the constitution and upheld it. I am proud to be a Californian.
